About Tauthali

Tauthali (हजिपुर) is a village in Province No. 3 Sindhupalchok District in the Bagmati Zone of central Nepal. Tauthali is 110 km away from Kathmandu. In 2011, the official population was 2762 (1507 females and 1255 males) in 776 households. In 2013 Nepal census it had a population of 3197 in 666 houses.

After the devastating earthquake of 2072 almost every house was destroyed including religious sites such as Tripura Sundari Mai. Within a half decades of time frame, almost every house was rebuilt, and now the look of this village has been totally changed comparing to prior days before earthquake.

Dolakha-Sindhupalchwok Rope Way is a rope way conveyor connecting the talc and magnesium mine at Kharidhunga with the processing plant at Lamosanghu in Nepal. Curd Splashing Festival (Dahi Jatra)

Tripura Sundari Mai Temple Curd Splashing Festival  ( दही जात्रा ) is an annual ritual performed by the local people (especially youth) of  Tauthali  village. It takes place the day after  Bijaya Dashami . Locals who are involved in this  jatra  splatter curd (in south Asia, curd refers to traditional home-made yogurt,  dahi ) [1]  on one another. Dahi Jaatraa begins with an offering of curd to the local goddess Tripura Sundari Mai, held in Tripura village body ( त्रिपुरा गाउँपलिका ) of  Sindhupalchok District . This tradition is celebrated only at Tauthali, in the temple of goddess Shree Tripura Sundari Maai. It is similar to the  La Tomatina  festival held in Spain, where participants throw tomatoes at other participants for fun.
